Find Your People

I have learned the value of having the right people in your corner. When I took my first leap into comedy, I was fortunate enough to be in a place where I met some amazing comics. From this group I made friends, colleagues, writing partners, and mentors. The right people in your circle will build you up, tell you the truth, challenge you, and praise you when you get it right. They will fight for you in rooms you aren't in and create opportunities when you aren't looking.

Your response to them is to give back what they have given you. What I have learned from them I have been able to reciprocate. I've also been able to share and encourage others who find themselves in the same situation I was in just a few years ago.

Are all of the people you encounter looking out for your best interests? No. Will you make mistakes with people that will make you cringe when you look back on those moments? Yes. Those moments are hard to process, but you can't live in them. The best you can do is face them, learn from them, be careful who you trust, and do better the next time.

Your people...your circle...they will understand. They'll comfort you, but they will also tell you to be brave and strong and keep going. Have you found your circle?
